CARIBBEAN TRAVEL - WHAT DOCUMENTS YOU NEED

CATEGORIES: , , , , ...........................................................................................................................................................................................................

With internationals rules constantly changing, it is hard to know exactly what kinds of Caribbean travel documents you need when leaving on vacation. Ever country has specific rules and regulations, so you should check ahead by calling the airport, but in general, you’ll need ID and a passport at the very least to fly into a foreign country or foreign territory.

First and foremost, no matter what documentation you have, travel to Cuba is illegal for most United States citizens. Cuba is under a strict communist dictatorship rule, and United States citizens risk their lives by going there. The only people allowed to travel to Cuba are special government officials with certain clearances. Traveling to Cuba by going to another country, like Canada, is also illegal. You can be caught quite easily doing this because the U.S. customs officials will see the Cuban stamp in your passport. It is smarter and safer just to avoid traveling to Cuba, because you will be less likely to get hurt while in the Caribbean and less likely to face charges when entering the United States to get home.

For most Caribbean countries, you will need a passport to travel from the United States into the country. The Caribbean is not a country on its own—the region is actually made up for number of small island countries and European territories. Therefore, every time you enter a new country, you will need to present your passport to be stamped. Regardless of if you need a passport by the island’s law or not, you will need a passport to reenter the United States. If you lose your passport or otherwise find yourself without a passport in a foreign country, contact the airlines immediately to find out what to do.

In some Caribbean countries, you will also need to present your airplane ticket showing that you have a ticket to return home or a ticket to fly on to another country. Immigration is a problem, and if you have not figured out when you’re going to leave, some countries will not let you leave the airport at all. Make sure you have a return or forward flight, regardless of where you go.

When traveling, keep your documentation, tickets, and identification in a safe place that is quickly accessible. Remember that your luggage may arrive long after you actually get to the Caribbean, so keep everything on your person instead. It is a good idea to use a small outside pocket to carry this or to have one person from the family in charge of all of the information in order to prevent it from getting lost.

Fashion refers a particular style of clothes, behaviour, etc.at a given time or place. Fashion in our Indian society these days are largely determined by the west. The western people particularly actors and actresses and sports persons have exerted tremendous impact in shaping up the fashions of our society today.
Their Indian counterparts definitely have a part to play in introducing and changing fashion in the Indian society. In our dealing with others we have to observe certain etiquette.
When we meet someone close to us we greet him with ‘good morning’ or ‘good evening’.’ excuse me’ is used as an advanced apology for troubling somebody.’ pardon’ is polite way of asking someone to repeat something. No social religion and even political gathering can be called without the use of microphones causing a great deal of discomfort to the people around.

Health - food and cleanliness

Cleanlines For Good Health:

In a warm country like India it is advisable to have a bath everyday. It is not necessary to use soap every time; water can wash away sweat and dust. Soap actually makes the skin dry because it washes away the oil produced by the skin glands to protect the skin. Only grease and oil need to be removed with soap.

For a bath you may use warm or cold water depending on your preference and constitution. In case you prefer warm water, use slightly cooler water for washing hair. Children and old people should not use very cold water. Hair should be washed as often as possible. Nails should be trimmed regularly.

Germs of various diseases like typhoid, dysentery and scabies collect under the nails. If hands are not washed before a meal or after using the toilet, these germs can enter the body and cause diseases which eventually will cripple your health. Children should be encouraged to develop the habit of washing their hands thoroughly before and after every meal and after using the toilet.

Teeth should be brushed well at least once a day and the mouth rinsed after every meal/drink. When food particles collect in the spaces between the teeth, they cause plaque, tartar and caries. This can lead to loss of teeth. To minimise the chances of tooth decay, teeth should be cleaned well, especially before going to bed. When we sleep, bacteria in the food have time to act on our teeth and weaken the health of the teeth. Toothpaste and toothpowder are not essential but brushing is. Some people use neem twigs to clean their teeth. This is very effective since it cleans both the teeth and the gaps between the teeth. It is important not to let tartar from on the teeth. Tartar cannot be removed by brushing; it needs scaling.

Gums also need attention. Gum massage improves blood circulation and strengthens the gums health.

Washing hands with soap after defecation is a must as many diseases are passed on through faeces. If water is not available paper, leaves and even pebbles can be used to clean oneself. However, it is still necessary to wash the hand thoroughly with soap after defecation. In fact, use of paper or leaves to clean oneself is recommended since it minimises anus-to-hand contact and therefore reduces the possibility of diseases transmission. Ash can be used instead of soap to wash hands as it has alkalis that help in removing oily and sticky substance.

Diet for Good Health:

A nutritious diet is essential to good health. Different countries have different practices of nutrition, but there are some common rules:

• Growing children need more food and more of nutritious foods.

• Protein rich and fat rich foods help the children grow strong and healthy.

• Hunger and appetite are largely constitutional but they also depend on food habits and availability. Humans can adjust to both higher and lower food intakes.

• Fresh food is more digestible than stale food. Stale food may contain bacterial growth. Therefore eat fresh food if possible.

• Make sure that meals are prepared in hygienic conditions, at homes and hotels. Educate food handlers.

• Ayurveda prescribes change of diets according to seasons. In winter more food is necessary. The Indian system of “chaturmas” (light food in rainy months) is worth adopting.

• Processed food has lesser nutritive value than “raw” food. So atta is inferior to coarse wheat flour. Hand-pounded rice has higher vitamin B content than mill-polished rice.

• Food rich in fibre promotes healthy bowel routine.

• Eat only when you are hungry. Food eaten when you are not hungry is digested only partially. Ayurveda believes that indigestion is the cause of countless diseases.

• Overeating animal foods like meat and eggs may be harmful for health.

• Occasional fasting ensures proper emptying and resting of the digestive system. However frequent fasts can cause malnutrition.
